Serve on a Committee

The Guest House is managed by a volunteer board of directors and also has many committees populated by volunteers, e.g. finance, marketing, governance and special events. Serving on a committee is a great way to find out more about the organization and possibly serving on the board in the future. If you are interested in serving in this capacity, please note that on the application or call and talk to the executive.

Help at the house

Reno High JROTC boys and girlVolunteers are needed weekly, M-F from 10am – 3pm to help with household chores. The Guest House is a typical home needing to be cared for on an ongoing basis. There are beds to be made, laundry to be done and cabinets to be straightened. Administrative support is also something that we would consider.

Volunteer at an Event

fri booth 6Over the past 13 years, we have provided support to the Nugget at Hot August Nights and Best in the West Rib Cook-Off. The Veterans Guest House provides over 200 volunteers for these events. Individuals work 6-hour shifts at drink booths. The Veterans Guest House receives the wages and the tips from our volunteer’s hard work. Their efforts have resulted in more than $100,000 in donations. Please watch our events page for the dates of this year’s event, and of course. Email us at info@veteransguesthouse.org with your contact information so we can get you shift information and let you know what’s happening. Also, follow our Facebook page closer to the event so you can keep up with “What’s Happening.” There are other events throughout the year where volunteers are needed.  Check our events page or email info@veteransguesthouse.org for more information.

OTHER WAYS TO GET INVOLVED

Dinnerscharity leage dinner2 Many of our guests rarely receive a home-cooked meal, and are very appreciative when a dinner is provided . You can schedule your family or group to provide a weekday meal (M-Th), by emailing info@veteransguesthouse.org or by calling 775-324-6958. We ask that you plan to feed 20 people. Nothing goes to waste. It will make a great lunch or dinner the next day. You are also welcome to stay and visit with our guests. They love to meet new people. Hold a “Wish List Drive” Hold a Veterans Guest House “Wish List” drive at your business, with your friends, or at your church or organization.  Every donation touches a life of a veteran.
